Optimism in colorful compositions: spotlight on artist Bárbara Malagoli
July 26, 2022
We’re all about focused minds and thoughtful driving habits here at HiRoad. It’s not easy to be a perfect driver or mindful person at every moment, but we love finding ways to help inspire those goals. One approach: collaborate with amazing artists and share their visions for taking the high road.
We reached out to multidisciplinary artist Bárbara Malagoli and asked her to create three illustrations based on the themes of fuel economy and safe driving. She based her designs on a soothing blend of Japanese Pop Art and futuristic elements to help us imagine scenes where sharing a ride, gliding into a smooth stop and driving friendly can inspire positive habits.
Bárbara likes to tell a story with harmonious and intriguing elements. We asked her to share her mindful habits and inspiration with us.
Three questions for Bárbara
We’re drawn to the mindful aspects of your art. How do you describe it?
In my works, I like to create and explore impossible universes that only exist in my head. I feel that this can work as an artistic tool to escape the real world where everything needs to make sense.
I try to bring positivity and optimism energy to my personal cosmos and characters through vibrant colors and palettes.
What keeps you focused on a busy work day?
I usually start my days with loads of coffee and some moments looking at a window. I feel that looking at the world in its natural rhythm helps me calm my anxiety and understand the timing of things in life.
Oh, and I love to lay down for a while with my cat on the couch listening to video game music compilations, which leave me with a calm and nostalgic feeling.
What’s your current inspiration—either from books, streaming content, art, nature, or another source?
Going out, seeing new things, and having the visual stimulation of the real world are what bring me the most inspiration. Whether it's a color palette of a dessert I ordered or a painting I saw in a museum. Traveling brings me great inspiration as well, so I'm always trying to jump from place to place and absorb as much as the world can offer me.
Looking inward for outward inspiration
